Boathouse Youth Charity – Bispham, Blackpool
Creating a modern, accessible space for the local community

A Transformative Project for The Boathouse Youth Charity
Project Background and Brief
We’re proud to have successfully delivered another transformative project – this time for the Boathouse Youth Charity in Bispham, Blackpool.
This full turnkey project involved the complete conversion of a former football club building – previously used for changing rooms, storage, and a small clubhouse – into a modern head office for the charity and a vibrant, accessible youth facility designed to serve the local community.
Scope of Works
The renovation included extensive internal and external works:
- Removal of internal walls and structural alterations, including the installation of new steelwork to support the revised layout.
- Formation of new window and door openings to enhance natural light and access.
- Full installation of new mechanical and electrical systems, including heating, plumbing, fire, and security systems.
- Creation of modern bathrooms, kitchens, and food preparation areas tailored to the needs of both staff and visitors.
- Development of dedicated office spaces, meeting areas, and accessible youth facilities, ensuring the building serves both administrative and community purposes.
- Externally, we carried out full rendering of the building, installed a 1.5m high steel perimeter fence, and added a car park barrier system for controlled access.
project management and Quantity Surveying services
We worked closely with the team at Shelby Group, who provided project management and Quantity Surveying services on behalf of The Boathouse Youth. Our in-house team handled all aspects of the build, project management, and QS works to help keep costs controlled and deliver value for money.
Given that the project was supported by government grant funding, we ensured clear and transparent cost reporting throughout – enabling the client to draw down funding in line with grant agency requirements.
Community Focus
This is one of several projects we’ve completed for local charities, reflecting our company’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community through high-quality, cost-effective construction services.
We have worked with Prospect on two significant projects over the last 3 years and every step of the process has been efficient, effective and client-centred. As the CEO of a Charity it is my responsibility to ensure that the public funds in our custody are spent well, this is a sentiment Chris shares and demonstrates in his every day decision making. It’s been like working with a trusted friend and colleague – and the results are awesome.
